On a silent walk, you can experience the tides and take the opportunity to enjoy a calm break from everyday life. Set yourself and your senses free and embrace full presence in nature—with nature, with the tides, and with the animals of Skallingen.
We will explore how the landscape and the horizon here have much to offer us on the day. Tides, sediment transport, and weather conditions not only shape the nature around us—they are also forces from which we, as humans, benefit and which reveal our dependence on nature’s cycles.
Join a mindful walk on Skallingen—a unique landscape listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site—and get your weekly dose of mindfulness.
On this exclusive walk, designed for those who wish to walk calmly together in a group, we share the common goal of activating artist David Garcia’s highly unique walking staff. In addition to being an excellent companion for walking, the staff can isolate and record sounds, which become part of the memorable experiences we bring home from the walk.
The staff is part of David Garcia’s contribution to Bringing In The Tide. The recordings are collected as part of a sound documentation of the Wadden Sea landscape.
Practical information
The walk is approximately 10 km long—along the shoreline, through sand, and across dunes. It lasts around four hours.
There can be up to 16 participants. The nature guide provides interpretation in German and Danish. Participation is free of charge, but registration is required via https://naturkulturvarde.dk/
Please bring a backpack or similar with drinks and some snacks for yourself during the walk. A cup of tea will be served to participants as a closing gesture at the end of the walk.
Meeting point: Skallingevej 60, 6857 Blåvand (by the old lifeboat station).
