A warm welcome to an evening meditation in landscape architect Sophie Sahlqvist’s work The Drowned Garden, where, through guided movement and silence, we invite you into an open encounter with the artwork, the landscape, and the forces that move through nature, both around us and within us.

The meditation begins with a movement practice, guided through simple instructions that encourage participants to move with their attention anchored in the body, while simultaneously experiencing the installation and its surroundings.

This is followed by a seated meditation, offering an opportunity to turn inward, allow the experience to deepen, and discover how these impressions may resonate within. Meditation, at its core, is simply a practice of relaxation and requires no prior experience.

We invite you to engage in an attentive, curious, and present exploration of how, and whether, the body, the mind, the artwork, and the landscape can enter into relationship with one another. Through this, we may come to experience ourselves as part of nature and its rhythms.

About Kontemplation

The meditation is guided by Kirsten Rotbøll Lassen and Jeanette Lykkegård.

Kirsten is a visual artist and psychomotor therapist with a particular interest in the intersection of movement, meditation, and art.

Jeanette is an anthropologist and mindfulness teacher who works with human relationships to nature, including in the Faroe Islands and Siberia.

Both Kirsten and Jeanette are part of the team behind Kontemplation, where they teach practices of presence, creativity, and inner as well as outer sustainability.
